The World's 10 Funniest Signs
Whether they're lost in translation, or just plain lost, Lonely Planet has rounded up some of the most side-splitting signs you're likely to encounter on your travels.
"Seeing a funny sign in ‘in the wild’ is a bit like seeing a rainbow," says Doug Lansky.
He should know. Lansky - a travel writer who has visited 120 countries - has just gathered the world's most weird and wonderful signs into a collection for travel bible, Lonely Planet.
'Ultimate Signspotting' contains the cream of the crop - the best of some 50,000 sign photos collected from amateur and professional photographers over a two decade period.
From 'secret' nuclear bunkers to the inevitable Lost in Translation bloopers, the results are sure to bring a smile to the face of anyone who has stopped to snap a sign.
"Drivers only recall about 20pc of the signs they glance at," Lansky says.
Somehow, we think all of the above would make the cut.
Ultimate Signspotting: Absurd and Amusing Signs from Around the World, is published by Lonely Planet at €8.95. You can buy the book online here.
