Mira leads the way to Vienna

Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino is one celebrity who has holidayed in Vienna, and a good time to visit the capital of Austria is during the season of Christmas markets, when mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and trumpet concerts are to be enjoyed in abundance.

However, don't overlook Vienna's ball season, which takes place every January and February, when the 'city of waltzes' comes exuberantly alive with over 400 balls - and around 2,000 hours of dancing.

The New Year's Eve Ball at the Hofburg Vienna (Imperial Palace) is one of the biggest, yet numerous other famous balls are held as well, including the Hunters' Ball (26 January, 2015), the Doctors' Ball (31 January, 2015) and the Lawyers' Ball (14 February, 2015).

One of the most popular balls is The Coffee House Owners' Ball which takes place on February 6 2015, and tickets cost in the region of €135 per person. The sweetest ball is the Bonbon Ball (13 February, 2015).

Throw in the Knotty Turkish towel

Melbourne mums Annika Macvean and Caren Vidler struck up a friendship when they found themselves spending a lot of time by the swimming pool with their children, and one day began discussing the benefits of Turkish towels.

The practicality of these lightweight towels which are easy to carry, fun to use and available in a host of bright and beautiful colours, had them sold.

In 2011 they started Knotty, designing towels which are hand finished with cute little knots in Turkey, and made from 100pc Turkish cotton.

The towels are designed to add a burst of colour to any outing, whether to the local pool or the beach, or simply while hanging out on the line.

They are quick drying and cost around €27.

Luxury class travel just got better

You turn left on Etihad's new Airbus A380 to get to first class - and then you can aim for the sanctuary that is 'residence class.'

The Residence, Etihad's new three-room penthouse, is set to give a whole new meaning to first-class air travel. The 125 sq ft private suite, which sits on the nose cone of the new airbus, consists of a living room, separate bedroom and ensuite bathroom, all of which are kitted out by interior designers.

Your every wish will also be the command to the butler on hand to meet your needs. A chauffeur will drive you to the airport.

Flights on the Airbus A380 will operate commercially from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow, starting this month - with bookings for The Residence expected to cost in the region of €16,000.
