PortaVentura World has confirmed April 7, 2017, as the opening date for its hotly-anticipated Ferrari Land.

The new park's main attraction is the Vertical Accelerator, a rollercoaster set to be both the highest (112m) and fastest (0-180kmph in five seconds) in Europe.

The €100m Ferrari Land is the largest project in PortAventura's history.

A 500m racetrack, 55m tall bounce-back towers, F1 simulators for adults and children and the chance to experience a super-fast pit-stop tyre-change are among the adrenaline-fuelled features created together with the iconic Italian brand.

Ferrari Land is set to grow those numbers by 25pc, occupying a 60,000 square-metre plot themed on Italy and Maranello, home of the Prancing Horse.

“The arrival of Ferrari Land next April will highlight PortAventura World’s position as a worldwide leading holiday destination, offering three theme parks in one resort," said Giovanni Cavalli, General Manager Commercial for PortAventura World.

PortAventura also offers several themed hotels, Caribe Aquatic Park and a Convention Centre with access to three golf courses and a beach club.

The resort is based in Salou, an hour south of Barcelona.
