Dublin Coach Group's new service is set to shake up sightseeing in the capital... bringing new levels of luxury to public coach tours.

Dublin is to get its first public luxury sightseeing coach tour.

Dublin Cityscape Luxury Sightseeing Tours, to be officially unveiled by Ryan Tubridy and Lord Mayor Christy Burke at a launch event in the RDS, is being billed as a "revolutionary" tourism experience.

The hop-on hop-off service will see eight coaches departing every 15 minutes.

It will serve 28 designated stops, seven days a week, starting at 2pm on Tuesday, September 23rd.

Tour guides on the coaches are described as "storytellers", or "quintessential Dubliners with real stories", making each tour a different experience.

Tickets are priced at €25p for three days of travel, with family tickets (2 adults + 4 children) available from €50.

The service aims to compete with Dublin Bus (tickets from €19pp, with a 15pc online discount) and Dublin City Sightseeing Tour (tickets from €17pp) by serving RDS and Donnybrook and providing extra elements of luxury, including:

  • Full climate control
  • Air-conditioning
  • Leather seating
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Restrooms
  • Onboard refreshments (coffee, hot chocolate)
  • Two children U16 travel free with every adult
  • Free entry to Irish Greyhound Racing events

Dublin Coach has invested €4 million to date in its Cityscape brand, creating some 40 new jobs in the process.

John O'Sullivan, CEO of Dublin Coach remarked:

"At Dublin Coach, we believe the journey is of primary importance to the tourism experience.

"Through Cityscape, the tourist will experience a completely authentic, immersive tour of Dublin City in pure luxury... Our team of Dublin Cityscape Storytellers will be delighted to share their stories and love of the Capital City with visitors."

The coach tour's Storytellers have gone through an intensive recruitment and training process, the company says. They come from backgrounds including archaeology, thatching, acting, music, history, sport, journalism and more.
