Monart, voted Ireland's No.1 Spa in our Reader Travel Awards 2018, has unveiled a new bar renovation at its Enniscorthy resort.

The lavish new Garden Lounge bar is a softly lit space boasting floor-to-ceiling windows "draped with bespoke handmade textiles," the five-star resort says.

Designed by Patricia Carr, the room aims to transition between Monart's 100 acres of Wexford woodland and the property's opulent interior.

100pc wool, hand-knotted rugs, an Irish oak bar and natural colours like light greens and ambers are threaded throughout the interior design (gallery above).

Villeroy and Boch porcelain, fused glass pieces credited to local artisan Annette Whelan, and a new food and drinks menu have also been introduced.

A perfect space to plonk yourself in whilst wearing those thick robes, in other words.

Monart regularly uses Christmas shutdown periods to invest and refurbish, and has recently added a Natural Alpine Salt Grotto, Infrared-Pro Cabin and Cumulus Steam Room.

"The Griffin Group are delighted to have chosen local trade professionals to create this wonderful environment," said its CEO Michael Griffin.

It “epitomises what a spa should be,” readers said, with several adding that, once ensconced, you “never want to leave.”

B&B, dinner, one treatment and access to the thermal spa costs from €179pp.
