An adventurous Chihuahua was stopped at airport security after climbing into his owner’s suitcase before she boarded a flight to Los Angeles.

The tiny pooch was discovered by security guards in New York’s La Guardia airport after climbing into his owner’s black carry-on suitcase before she left home to catch a flight to America’s west coast.

The seven year old, beige Chihuahua was out of luck however as he was soon carted back to his Big Apple apartment by the passenger’s husband after he was discovered.

Finding the humour in the situation the US Transport Security Administration shared a photo of the want-to-be jet setter on their Instagram account.

"Ay, #chihuahua! It’s always important to double check your bags before traveling, especially to make sure your chihuahua hasn’t stowed away inside one of them,” they wrote.

The animal is not the only one to be found in this particular airport in recent months. Last year a little boy was caught trying to smuggle his pet turtle through La Guardia’s security in his underwear.
