christmas caribbean cruises

Have you always fancied spending Christmas in the sun? If you start planning now, you could be cruising around the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean and taking a post-prandial snooze on a palm-lined beach come Christmas Day.

1 Celebrity equinox

The Ultimate Caribbean Christmas Cruise leaves from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on December 20, and after two days at sea you'll find yourself in Magens Bay (pictured) – a place so magnificent it is regularly voted one of the world's most beautiful beaches.

The 10-day cruise on board Celebrity Equinox continues with a visit to the quaint Caribbean town of Basseterre.

On Christmas Day, you'll hit Bridgetown, the biggest town in Barbados, and by St Stephen's Day you'll be lounging around in Dominica, where there are great opportunities for diving and snorkelling.

Prices start from €1,517 per person. For more, see

2 liberty of the seas

If you are missing the cold, you can always visit the ice-skating rink on board Liberty of the Seas during a six-night cruise around the Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera.

You'll fly from Ireland to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before cruising en route to Belize City with its stunning coastline, tropical rain forest and barrier reef. The trip continues with a stop at Cozumel, Mexico's largest Caribbean island.

And just for the record, average December temperatures are a very comfortable 24°C.

Prices start from €1,299 per person. Departures from Ireland on December 6 and 20. For more, see

3 celebrity reflection

This seven-night fly/cruise package leaves from Miami on December 21 and arrives in San Juan, Puerto Rico's capital, two days later. Old San Juan – not far from the pier – has 16th-century buildings, museums, art galleries and cafés.

On Christmas Eve, you'll be in Charlotte Amalie, an island paradise, and for Christmas Day itself, you can work up an appetite by visiting the quaint, carved gingerbread houses of Philipsburg, capital of Dutch St Maarten.

Prices on board Celebrity Reflection start at €953. For more, see
