Promotion: Top skiing tips

Are you thinking of hitting the slopes this season? In this video special we give you the tips you need to ensure that you have a great ski holiday this season.

First, make sure you have the right equipment. Whether you rent or buy you’ll need a warm ski-jacket, a hat, a helmet, a quality pair of goggles, gloves and salopettes – don’t wear jeans as they could get wet and then freeze.

It’s also important to get fit for the slopes – doing an exercise programme before heading off could make the difference between an enjoyable holiday or a painful one! But however much you prepare there is always the chance of accidents while skiing.

“In the event of injury, it could cost up to €3,000 to get an airlift from the slopes,” says Fiona Butler, manager of ski insurance at, “So, make sure to take out adequate ski insurance when booking your ski holiday.”
