After an initial consultation and examination, you'll be given a schedule of treatments as well as a bespoke diet for your stay.

How: Nightly rates start at €195 for a single room (treatments are extra). There are two locations in Austria - fly to either Salzburg or Ljubljana indirect with Lufthansa (lufthansa.com).

Their aim is to promote health and wellness through exercise, treatments and diet, with a strong emphasis on macrobiotics. Programmes can focus on general fitness and weight loss, or more specific requirements like quitting smoking or sleep recovery.

Make the most of the waters with a one-hour 'Bath Circuit', where you can make a loop of the thermal pools, as well as ice chambers, saunas and a steam room.

How: Nightly rates start at €389. Fly to Bristol with Aer Lingus (aerlingus.com)

In the spa suites, you'll even get the benefit of the thermal water from every tap.
