You don't have to wait until next week for the 2018 travel sales. WOW air has just announced 50pc off return flights from Dublin.

The flash sale is live until 23.59 on Saturday, December 23, and you need to book online using the promo code WOWXMAS to bag the discount.

Bookings are valid on select return flights to any of the airline's destinations from Dublin, for travel between December 27 and May 15.

Those destinations include Iceland, as well as one-stop connections to ten North American destinations, including New York (Newark), Boston, Washington DC, Toronto, Montréal, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Pittsburgh and Chicago.

Test bookings we've conducted using the promo code today see one-way flights to Reykjavik from €31.84, and to New York from €94.44.

The catch? As with most low-cost options, meals, seat selection, booking fees and bags (starting from €31.99 each-way) are all charged as extra.

The 50pc discount is also only available on return fares.

In 2018, WOW plans to build its network, introducing one-stop flights from Dublin to Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, St Louis, JFK and Dallas.

Meanwhile, Aer Lingus has launched a January seat sale offering 50pc off European flights and US routes from €209 (aerlingus.com).
