Top 10 cities with the best quality of life revealed but Irish cities don't make the cut
New research has revealed the cities in which inhabitants have the best quality of life.
Vienna has been named as the city with the best quality of living on earth according to a study which ranks over 400 countries worldwide.
Although Ireland’s capital did not make the top ten list, Dublin ranked 34th on the list ahead of UK cities London, Glasgow and Belfast which was placed 63rd on the charts.
The research conducted by Mercer found that Zurich was a close second to Vienna in the study which analysed the living conditions of a city’s inhabitants.
Auckland in New Zealand rated as the third best city for a great quality of life.
Germany had a prominent presence on the list with cities Munich, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt all making the top ten.
Also featured on the list were Denmark’s Copenhagen and Sydney, Australia.
"Despite concerns about economic growth, the cities of Western Europe continue to offer a stable environment for employees and employers," Mercer said.
"Security has been tightened in many major European cities following the terrorist attacks in Paris and Copenhagen and Mercer is closely monitoring any potential impact on the living standard of the expatriates and their families in these locations," it added.
The research also pinpointed what was thought to be emerging cities which included Manaus in Brazil, Durban in South Africa, Wroclaw in Poland and Xi’an and Chongqing in China.
