The loves of my life... beauty guru Jodie Wood
The nutritionist, beauty guru and mum-to-be chats about her favourite people, places and things
I know it sounds cliched, but I have to say my husband, Will. He is my rock. Everyone falls in love with him when they meet him; I think even my family prefer him to me!
Going down to Fermoy with my whole family to the fishery my grandparents ran. I think that's where I fell in love with the outdoors, and it's why I love rivers so much, even as an adult.
The moment of the day
Getting home to my dog, Poppy, taking my make-up off, and having nothing to do. It sounds strange, considering so much of my life revolves around beauty products and glamour, but I'm happiest with it all pared back.
Bella Notte by Peggy Lee. It was the song for our first dance at our wedding. I love that it's a nod to Italy, as we got engaged in Rome, my favourite city on Earth.
I'm not really into movies. Crime dramas like The Tunnel, Mindhunter or my current obsession, Evil Genius, get me more excited. I also have an addiction to podcasts, including True Crime Garage and Serial.
The part of my body
There really is no way to answer this question without sounding vain. I like my freckles; we Irish often try to hide them and wish them away, but I think they're unique markings, and I don't mind mine!
The heroes, more like - my parents. They brought my brother and I up to be happy, confident and independent children, something I hope I can do with my own kids. Their marriage has always been something I look up to and aspire to emulate.
A bikini, a hat and flip-flops. I am a sun addict, and the more time I can get on a beach, the better.
The smell of food. I could eat all day - I wake up thinking about my next meal!
Sunglasses - they can make an outfit. I have a mix of designer and affordable pairs, and I love experimenting with colours and different styles. Plus, they hide a multitude when you're tired or make-up free.
My phone. As a blogger, I'm constantly plugged in, and my phone has become an extension of my right hand. I suppose it comes with the job description, but I sometimes wish it wasn't the case. I love to have a digital detox from time to time.
Marbella, Spain - but not the tacky end. It's a home-from-home for us, and we try to get down as much as possible. I can't wait for my kids to grow up on the beach like we did.
I'm sitting here trying to think of my favourite five-star, but in actual fact, my favourite hotel was a two-star I stayed in while travelling with my now husband, in Koh Samui, Thailand. We lived on chicken fried rice and I fell in love with the stray dogs that lived on the beach we'd go to. My idea of simple heaven.
A mojito or a whisky sour, neither of which I can currently enjoy, as I'm pregnant. Virgin cocktails just don't taste the same!
The beauty product
Lash extensions and a good facial. Vintage Glamour do the best lash extensions in Ireland; I can't live without them. I'm religious with skincare, and the Beacon Face & Dermatology clinic is like a second home to me.
The piece of advice
If they don't know you personally, don't take it personal. In this business, people feel like they know you based on the snippets of your life you put out online, and you are fair game for feedback. It's important to feel comfortable with who you are deep down, otherwise this industry could be a scary place.
I have very little patience and have a problem relinquishing control. I don't like incompetence and would always rather I do something myself when I can. I'm working on it!
Being able to juggle. Most people don't know I work as a nutritionist for most of the week and fit in my blog and job as a beauty editor where I can. I'm about to throw a baby into the mix, so my time is really precious to me.
