Tech Insider: Mobile device add-ons from Microsoft

With Jessica Kelly

Microsoft's hardware comes with a hefty price tag. As with most things, you're paying for the brand. That said, the Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth Keyboard is an excellent companion for any tablet or mobile device. The keyboard comes with a cover that can be folded to act as a tablet or mobile device stand; very handy.

Connecting to any device running Windows, Android or iOS, the keyboard allows users to type emails and document more comfortably than if just using the on-screen keyboard.

The keys are slightly smaller than those on a typical keyboard, but it does have shortcut keys for Windows 8 devices.

The Wedge Keyboard is called such because the back of the piece is slightly raised, again adding to the comfort of the user when typing. It's extremely light and compact, meaning it's still easier carry around a tablet and Bluetooth keyboard versus a laptop.

The only thing to be wary of is the price – it's €64.99. This is a lot of money for an add-on to a tablet or mobile device, but if the tablet is your main device throughout the day, it's a solid investment.

If you're out splashing the cash on devices for your tablet – the Microsoft Wedge Touch Mouse may be worth a look. The tiny mouse is extremely comfortable to use.

As a Surface Pro 2 user, I have become reliant on the Wedge Touch Mouse as it eliminates the clunkiness of the touchpad mouse on the in-built keyboard.

It, like the keyboard, connects via Bluetooth and will work with Windows 8 or Android devices. There's very few ways to dress this device up: a mouse, is a mouse, is a mouse – so paying over €60 for it may seem OTT, but again, if it will be used every day make the investment now rather than paying out for cheaper models and watching them break over a short period of time!
