Style Notebook... Get the look: Lorraine Keane
Lorraine Keane is not a woman who needs any help in the body department. Not for her the panelled, optical-illusion dresses or humiliating control pants.
Even so, this outfit is a great example of how to use the slimming powers of black. The tuxedo jacket is a nice slouchy alternative to a straight-up blazer, and the drop-waist effect lengthens the torso. The trousers are fitted but not spray-on tight, and paired with the neat, pointy boots, really elongate the legs. A splash of colour lightens the look and keeps things nicely casual. Again, not that Lorraine needs any trickery, but we'll gladly take her tips.
I am five months pregnant and starting to struggle to find smart clothes to wear to the office. It is not a hugely formal environment, but I am embarrassed as I am putting a lot of weight on my thighs and bum. Any good options, please? I have about €300 to spend.
A. Weight gain is an unfortunate side-effect of pregnancy. The best thing is to accentuate your legs from here on out and do some clever accessorising. Cos is a gem for non-frumpy maternity-wear. Invest in a tunic or a shirt dress, from €89, and pair with boots and maternity leggings. Carolyn Donnelly - The Edit for Dunnes Stores also has a loose jersey dress, €69; it's comfortable and the perfect thing to dress up or down.
