Send your style dilemmas to stylemma@independent.ie

Dear Stylemma,

I'm looking for some cheapish peasant blouses to wear at the weekend. Nothing polyester, or with rough scratchy lace, and no crochet panels, please.

You're in luck - this is one style that tends to be done as well by the most budget of high-street stores as it is by high-end designers. As long as you buy one that's 100pc cotton - which most of the high-street versions are. The shape isn't really dependent on an excellent cut, as it's essentially rather billowy. Although avoid anything with an elasticated waistband -it's too early 1990s. Forever 21 and New Look have a huge amount of this sort of thing, in white and in black, starting at around €11.99. Next has a lot of classic peasant blouses in black and in white, and one lovely navy number with black edging, for €64.99. It's a little bit more expensive, but it looks it. Warehouse has a gorgeous version for €34.99 in thick, crisp cotton, which can be worn off the shoulder. And Topshop has a white peasant blouse with red embroidery that is positively Isabel Marant-esque.
