Light fantastic

Folded up and slipped in among the books on a shelf, this light, with its laser-cut wooden cover and spine, looks just like any other book.

Open it up, however, and two discrete LED strips light up and it becomes an attractive lamp, suitable to read by or just to create an ambient glow. It’s also rechargeable, so you can take it anywhere. SC

Book Light, €80; mini version, €42.50, Designist, South Great George’s St, D2, or see designist.ie

The head’s up

Your dad may not want you to explicitly mention his hair loss, but this SPF, designed specifically for the scalp, is a nice way to take care of his head this Father’s Day.

It has a light texture, which tends to appeal to men, a summery scent, broad-spectrum protection and good resistance to water. A balm for baldies. SC

Voduz Sun Scalp SPF 50 Sun Cream for Scalp and Hairline, €18.95, selected stockists nationwide, or see voduz.com
