Volkswagen is to open its books for pre-ordering of its electric car, the ID.3 First Edition, on June 18.
Hundreds of Irish people have already expressed an interest and lodged a refundable €1,000 deposit. They will now get a chance to order one.
They will also be told the exact cost of the new EV as Volkswagen is disclosing price at that stage next month.
They can expect to get hold of the new car before the end of the summer. The special launch editions - ranging according to spec from around €40,000 to the €50,000 mark, as previously disclosed - will arrive first.
Buyers of more standard cars with different battery outputs will have to wait until late 2020, realistically the first quarter of 2021.
Again, projected prices are expected to start from around the €30,000 mark.
The ID.3 will be sold through the existing retailer channel at dealerships.
