Volkswagen plans as many as 40 electric or hybrids for near future
VOLKSWAGEN is planning to have as many as 40 electric or hybrid motors on the road in the near future.
The company is banking on drivers switching with more confidence than in the past to electric cars in particular.
By next year alone it expects to have 14 vehicles with what it calls 'alternative drive trains'.
It introduced the e-Golf and e-Up electric cars at Frankfurt.
Its spokesman said that electric cars could not be "a compromise on wheels".
He said it had to 'convince' drivers in all areas and admitted that the plug-in hybrid had the "greatest market potential".
