SEAT targets families with next generation toledo
THIS is the next generation of SEAT's family car, the Toledo.
It gets here at the end of the year -- in time for the January market, and it seems you can factor in a starting price of below €18,000.
Engines, initially, will comprise a 75bhp 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre 105bhp diesel.
The diesel's emissions (114g/km) put it in the lowest (€160-a-year) motor tax band.
The old, old Toledo was a great car and built up a loyal following for its price and practicality. It has moved on a lot since, especially in terms of styling, but with a decent bit of exposure this could re-establish the name in a significant way.
This one is 4cm longer than the second-generation, and they are making a big thing of its wide-opening rear hatch.
Significantly, the newcomer will have a three-year warranty.
Expect most of the attention to be on the 1.6-litre diesel. And expect a 90bhp version of it next year.
Standard equipment includes airbags that span the driver and passenger, front-side head/thorax.
