THIS is the hot 4-series Convertible. The M4 version will go on sale here on September 6 and will cost from €108,300 on-the-road (OTR).
It has the same TwinPower turbo 431bhp in-line six-cylinder (2,979cc) as the M3 saloon and M4 Coupé.
You can have a 6spd manual or 7spd M double clutch transmission. The 7spd M double clutch transmission (€4,596 extra) is a combination, effectively, of two gearboxes – each with its own clutch.
You can choose to let the automatic gearbox do the shifting or use the selector lever or steering column-mounted paddles.
The M4 Convertible is 60kg lighter than the M3 Convertible it succeeds through extensive use of aluminium in the bonnet, front wings and several areas of the chassis.
They used carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the strut brace in the engine compartment.
With a 6spd box, fuel consumption is 9.1l/100km with emissions of 213g/km, while the 7spd automatic gets 8.7l/100km and has emissions of 203g/km.
Standard equipment will include Adaptive M suspension, 19ins M light alloys, BMW Professional media package, Bluetooth and USB, front and rear parking aids and heated front seats.
