No more lugging child seats – now you can pack an inflatable one
It can be awkward getting children's car seats in and out and switching them around.
Volvo may have come up with a solution. It has developed an inflatable one – that also happens to be quite light. The rear-facing concept inflates in just 40 seconds and weighs only 5kg. By our reckoning that is less than half the weight of your conventional seat.
You can inflate it remotely by using Bluetooth connectivity. It is made from special fabric which was used originally to see if they could develop inflatable aeroplanes.
This seat is claimed to be easy to pack and carry (it fits into a weekend bag).
And it should facilitate use when, for example, someone else is looking after your children and needs an extra seat.
The seat faces the rear of the car as Volvo insists that is the safest way for children to travel until they are three or four years old.
