My side of the road

I'm just asking a simple question.

Are election posters distracting drivers?

The posters are halfway up poles and jutting out from all vantage points on busy roadsides to grab attention, aren't they?

I must say I find it difficult not to be distracted. I'm nosey. I want to fit the face to the name or vice versa. I drive a fair bit so many are new to me. I simply have to look at the air-brushed faces, slogans and party allegiances (yes, some have all three air-brushed).

The danger is that by looking at them – for even a few seconds – you can cover a lot of distance 'blind'.

Any thoughts?
