My side of the road
The small things that keep you safe. I never thought of sunglasses as a safety aid – until I forgot them. Even with the visor down I still found myself squinting and being unsure.
That is an awful way to be behind the wheel. I know we don't get an awful lot of good weather – and certainly nothing like some of the days of recent times. But even a bad day can suddenly lift and you are hit between the eyes by a late afternoon sun.
I now find myself leaving the sunglasses in the car so I'm not caught out. I got a little fright with a cyclist you see – only saw him at the last second while not wearing the glasses – so now they are part of my driving kit. The small things that keep you safer.
