Majority of drivers admit to breaking speed limit
THE vast majority of motorists tend to break speed limits when using the motorway, new research reveals.
That would confirm the impression we get here on a daily basis.
The research was carried out by 'Autocar' at a time when the British government is looking at increasing motorway speeds to 128kmh (80mph), which is 8kmh above our highest limit.
The research discovered that 94.6pc of motorists admit they have broken the motorway speed limit on several occasions.
A mere 3.5pc said they never accelerated past the limit.
The study also found that 6.1pc of motorists always drive at 32kmh above the limit.
