BMW have been quietly busy so a re-cap is warranted, I think. There is the debut of a 6cyl 340hp engine in the M140i and M240i Performance models - 3/5dr, Coupé and Convertible.

Power is up 14hp and torque 50Nm (to 500Nm). Prices for the M140i start at €53,780, the M240i Coupé from€59,320 and the Convertible from €65,000.

There is a new 7-series plug-in hybrid (ordinary and LWB) with, they claim, 46km on all-electric mode. Its 2-litre TwinPower turbo petrol and synchronised electric motor produce a combined 326hp.

It joins the existing PHEVs 225xe Active Tourer, 330e saloon and X5 xDrive40e. All are being sold as iPerformance models. They claim emissions of 49g/km- 56g/km (2.1-litres/2.5 litres/100km) for the 7-series. Prices from €90,810.

BMW-owned MINI news includes the arrival of a Cooper Works convertible (231bhp, 320nm torque from 2-litre petrol; 0-100kmh in 6.6 secs). From €43,380. Busy times indeed.
