Finnish Nokian drives ahead of the competition as winter tyre winner

Nokian's new WR D3 winter tyre has been awarded victory in German car magazine Sport Auto's winter tyre test 2011. The Finnish brand scored 99/100 for its snow performance and 68/70 in the dry.

"Nokian is clearly ahead of the others with regard to winter properties. In the dry you can rely on it too," said Sport Auto.

Sport Auto continued: "In winter conditions, the Nokian WR D3 climbs to the top. There was no match for the excellent grip properties of the Finn. It brakes impressively on snow and also provides the most gripping traction.

"In the test discipline handling it offers the best lateral grip, which eventually has an effect on the lap time. Thus, the Nokian comes off as the insider tip from this comparison; one which compared to the major players in fact shies a bit away from the wet, but one which nearly passes for a bargain regarding its price."

Agrigear in Cavan, the Irish importer of Nokian tyres, stocks an extensive range of Nokian winter tyres which are available nationwide through their select network of agents. For your nearest stockist, call 042 9666444 or check out

Toyota tackles new Munster jersey

Toyota and Munster rugby have announced that the Munster team will be sporting special edition jerseys for their home Heineken Cup pool games at Thomond Park over the coming months.

The introduction of the special edition jerseys will celebrate Toyota's leadership in environmental technology and the introduction of the Auris Hybrid (HSD).

The Auris is the first Toyota model in Ireland since Prius to benefit from the technology. The new-look Munster jerseys will feature a 'Toyota Auris Hybrid' logo in place of the normal 'Toyota' main sponsor logo. Toyota intends to launch three additional hybrid models into its range in 2012.

In addition, 17 of the special edition jerseys will be donated to a charity and can then be used for fundraising for the selected organisation.

Toyota will utilise its popular Facebook page platform as a facility for the public to nominate their charity of choice, during the month of February, with those picked at random being awarded the jerseys following the climax of the Heineken Cup pool stages in January.

Munster rugby will donate three jerseys to its preferred charities and the remaining three jerseys will be presented to the Munster Supporters' Club in recognition of its loyalty and dedication to Munster rugby.
