World Car Awards voted 'number one' across the globe
The World Car Awards have been declared the number one programme of their type in the world - for the fourth consecutive year.
That accolade has been determined by a major independent media study conducted by Prime Research.
The outcome arises from the level and consistency of coverage of World Car activities over the past 12 months. The report says there was a significant 34pc increase in articles and posts since 2012, reflecting a growing interest in the awards.
The Irish Independent's motoring editor, Eddie Cunningham, is Ireland's sole representative on the prestigious 71-juror, 23-country voting panel.
As you may remember, this year's overall winner was the Mazda MX-5 (pictured).
But nothing stands still in the world of motoring and already the journey to find the winner of the next World Car has begun behind the scenes.
The Road to World Car will officially start at the Paris International Motor Show in the autumn.
Jurors will test-drive all nominated cars across a six-month period.
And the winners will be declared at the New York International Auto Show on Thursday, April 13, 2017.
