It's always a bit special when you hear of a company taking on extra staff.

The expanding Joe Duffy Group has been more active than most in the area at creating and filling jobs as the economy has picked up.

Now comes the news that they will be recruiting more than 20 qualified technicians and 20 apprentices over the coming months.

Yes, that's some 40 jobs in all, they say. There is an open evening (from 6.30pm) for those interested, on June 27, at their Audi North Dublin dealership.

In a statement, the company said that it was increasing its after-sales capacity right across the group.

These include four new facilities currently under construction (Joe Duffy BMW, Joe Duffy Volkswagen North, Porsche Centre Dublin (all at Charlestown, Exit 5, M50) and a new Audi Limerick outlet.

The company said: "To facilitate this growth, the group is expanding its technical team to facilitate the 50pc increase in workshop capacity created by these new dealerships."

Group chief executive officer Gavin Hydes (pictured) described the announcement of the 40 jobs as a "great opportunity for those looking for a rewarding automotive career".
