'Sway' hints at look of future Nissan Micra
It is widely perceived as previewing the shape, size and look of the next Nissan Micra.
The company will shows this radical 'Sway' concept at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
The language used by the company yesterday fuelled a growing conviction that Nissan's designers are lining up quite a departure for the replacement of the evergreen supermini.
The Micra should be due for replacement in the next 18 months to two years or so.
The Japanese carmaker says the Sway concept holds out the prospect of similar "innovative design and product planning" to the Qashqai and Juke.
Both were radical departures and led the way in terms of design.
Nissan further teased: "What would happen if we applied the same radical thinking and quality standards to one of the most important sectors in Europe: the small hatchback?"
The car maker added that the concept is a "glimpse at how a future generation of small Nissan models could look if the company's striking new design language was applied to a European hatchback."
