Spirit of the Euros: Renault give evergreen Clio a summer facelift
Given the month that is in it with the Euros, I suppose it was inevitable a car from France should feature somewhere this week.
It just happens to be the revised Renault Clio. They are calling it new. It's not. It is a revision.
And it is due in Ireland by the end of September though there is no indication on price yet.
There are changes to the styling front and rear but they are relatively small: new LED headlights, front grille and rear bumper - all designed to follow the look of the new Megane
Of bigger interest, perhaps, are the new 1.5-litre dCi 110 and TCe 120 engines as they now have 6spd manual transmissions.
They are also claiming a better cabin - all the upholsteries are new. There are more infotainment options too, a BOSE sound system and 'handsfree parking'.
There are three different connected multimedia systems: Media Nav Evolution, Renault R-Link Evolution and the new R&GO (on entry-trim).
Here in Paris, I see an abundance of the evergreen supermini on packed city streets: they are nippy and small enough for the mad, crazy traffic that clogs this metropolis.
When you see so many in one area, it's easy to see how they have sold 13 million worldwide since launch.
