Powerhouse RS3 to cost €66,750 when it arrives here in September
Audi seem to have a new powerhouse version of a mainstream car nearly every week.
The latest news, just revealed, is that the new RS3 Sportback will get here in September.
And prices will start from €66,750 on-the-road.
Under the bonnet, they say, is the most powerful production five-cylinder engine in RS history.
The following may explain why they can make that claim. The turbocharged 2.5-litre TFSI produces 367bhp - up 27bhp - and 465Nm of torque.
That lets it sprint to 100kmh in 4.3 seconds and it can do 280kmh. With a claimed fuel consumption of 8.1 litres/100 kilometres, the 189g/km emissions level invokes annual road tax of €750.
They say the 7spd S tronic, which diverts power to the car's quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, shifts even faster than the previous model .
Standard spec includes Nappa leather, LED headlights, 19ins alloys, Audi Drive Select with RS suspension and Brake System. And it is 25mm lower than the conventional A3 Sportback.
Obviously the price tag will mean few will be able to afford it, but there is no doubt it will generate a lot of interest.
These cars always do.
