More buyers now know exactly what they want
A growing number of people have their minds made up about what they are going to buy before they go near a dealership.
Research found that more than a third know precisely what they want and focus only on that model.
Additionally, many buyers only went to see one other car, meaning more than 50pc bought without shopping around much.
The findings back the perception that people are now far better informed thanks to reading reviews and checking online.
Top priorities for buyers are predictable, judging by the Hyundai UK research. They include price, reliability, comfort, economy and brand.
Around 71pc of women said they'd bring someone to look over a new car with them. Just 40pc of men would do so.
Options most in demand included parking sensors, electric windows, sat-nav, roomy boot, digital radio, demisting mirrors, automatic braking, heated seats and Bluetooth.
