You know there is money around when you see Audi bringing in a €150,000-plus supercar. They've just announced the advent of the 605bhp 4-litre TFSI S8 Plus in January.
They've extracted a lot more power (+85bhp) from the same twin-turbocharged 4-litre V8 engine in the standard (if you can call it that) 520bhp S8.
It goes from a standing start to 100kmh in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of up to 305kmh (if you buy the optional dynamic package which includes carbon-ceramic brakes and modified sports exhaust system).
Its 8spd Tiptronic transmission powers the quattro drive-train with a sport differential. There is also adaptive air suspension and dynamic steering.
The S8 Plus for here will have 20ins specially-designed wheels and 275/35 tires.
Helping its dynamics is its lightweight aluminium body that weighs just 231kg.
Exact pricing/specs for Ireland (I reckon around €150,000 ) will be announced in September when it is unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Rivals include the Mercedes AMG S63 (V8, 577bhp).
