Merc to get a third row
THE new Mercedes E-Class estate (pictured and unveiled this week) will get here by September.
Mercedes say it is "the most intelligent estate" they have built. That's because it has all the technology from the saloon.
It must be one of the roomiest, however, with a cargo area of 1,820 litres. Rear head and elbowroom are claimed to be best in class.
A version with a third row of seats - effectively a folding bench for children - is planned.
A key engine from start will be the new 2-litre diesel (194bhp). The new 9G-TRONIC 9spd auto transmission is standard. A performance 401bhp, 3-litre V6 biturbo AMG E 43 4MATIC version will come later on.
And an all-wheel-drive version to compete against the Audi A6 Allroad will debut at the Paris Motor Show.
