How Volkswagen are putting poweR into their Golf estate
VOLKSWAGEN are putting more power into their Golf estate. They have unveiled a high-performance 'R' version of the car.
This marks the first time they have put Golf R trappings and such power into an estate bodystyle.
The new version has a 2-litre 4cyl turbocharged 300bhp TSI petrol (380Nm torque).
There is a 6spd dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
The suspension is 20mm lower. And the ESC Sport mode can be deactivated if you take it on track. Options include the latest version of the DCC adaptive chassis control system.
The car is similar to the hatchback up to the B-pillars but then gets a new R design bumper, high-gloss black diffuser, four chrome-plated tailpipe trims etc.
