Nice slogan idea from Continental Tyres here, reminding people of safety with a seasonal twist.

They are calling it 'Follow Rudolph'. The 'Rudolph bit stands for:

Roadworthy: Make sure your vehicle is fit for purpose.

Under pressure: Check your tyres are properly inflated.

Don't drink and drive: Ever.

Observe: Stay alert, road users may be unpredictable.

Load: Driving with more people and things on board means stopping distances increase. Ensure loads are secured.

Pause: Tiredness can kill. Take a break.

Hazards: As well as the usual risks, factor in festive revellers and wintry conditions.

* Skoda's high-powered Kodiaq RS will cost from €62,295. Yes, a Skoda for more than €60,000.

Is that a sign of progress and confidence or what? For that sort of money in their most powerful SUV to date, you get 20in alloys, virtual cockpit, dynamic chassis control, new dynamic sound boost and progressive steering.

Equally, if not more importantly, you get a 240bhp 2.0TDI bi-turbo diesel, 4x4 and DSG (automatic).

The Kodiaq will also have the new redesigned RS logo. The price is for a five-seater. Two more seats cost €1,000 extra in total.

* Congratulations to Toyota Sandyford, which has been voted Toyota dealer of the year. The award is for the dealer who achieves the best overall performance across several areas, including sales and after sales.

Toyota Sandyford not only got the award, but also a cheque for €5,000 to reward the staff for the excellent achievement.

Other winners include: Toyota Liffey Valley (hybrid retailer of the year); Grandon Car Sales, Cork (accessory sales); Toyota Liffey Valley (volume retailer); Tadg Riordan Motors, Ashbourne (parts dealer award); Toyota Long Mile (sales dealer); Lehane Motors, Cork (after-sales dealer).
