Audi, BMW and Mercedes poised join to forces with Nokia maps
Audi, BMW and Mercedes are poised to do a deal for Nokia maps, according to reports
The deal, if completed, would give them access to the detailed maps - so important for smart vehicles of the future.
It is reported that an agreement with Nokia could be reached as early as next week.
The unusual aspect of any such agreement is that it would be a joint purchase by the three German rivals who, as we know, are vying with each other for advantage in the luxury-car market.
Nokia's maps business, HERE, supplies data to about 80pc of cars with in-dash navigation systems in Europe and North America.
