Amazing XF sums up Jaguar class
If there was sadness over Saab there is delight over the way Jaguar is really flying again.
Along with its cousin Land Rover and BMW's Mini, the marque is part of a massive renaissance in the British motor industry's premium brands.
The Jaguar and Land Rover success builds on what was already starting under Ford but is accelerating under their Indian ownership by the Tata company. It is 90 years since Jaguar began as the Swallow Sidecar company and only changed its name to avoid any SS connotations.
The XF saloon is making much of the running for the marque at the moment and is really as good or better as anything its premium competitors can throw at it. The specification is especially stunning and is worth checking out.
However, what could really boost the model is the new 2.2 diesel engine. It brings the car into the €330 road tax bracket and an achievable 50-plus mpg. Prices start at €45,735, plus delivery charges. If anything is going to set you apart in the corporate car park, this is it.
