Adam gets the apple of Opel's eye

OPEL'S new 1-litre engine will make its appearance in the Adam small car.

This is regarded as a competitor to Ford's EcoBoost engines.

It will come in 89bhp and 113bhp guises and Opel is claiming that certain versions can manage as much as 62mpg – and emissions of 99g/km.

PEUGEOT'S HYBRID AIR IN THREE YEARS

PEUGEOT is reportedly on the way to having Hybrid Air technology in a car within three years.

The system uses compressed air to help or completely take over from a 3cyl engine.

Reports say it will make its debut in the 2008 crossover at some stage in 2016.

BMW GOES DUTCH

WITH THE MINI

BMW is to expand MINI production to the Netherlands this summer – but the Oxford plant in England will remain the main manufacturing base, owners BMW insist.

Production of the hatchback will be split between Oxford and a factory in Born, run by contract manufacturer VDL Nedcar.
