A car you can't buy unless invited
YOU may be living in Ireland and have a lot of money. But one car maker is not interested.
Aston Martin are to revive the Lagonda badge for a new super 4dr saloon that will slot in above the Rapide S in the range. But your money is no good unless you are INVITED to buy one. And, a small detail, you need to be living in the Middle East. So if you are prepared to emigrate it might be helpful to know that:
* The new model will be based on the current VH platform (most Aston Martin models have been built on this since the V12 Vanquish back in 2001).
* Its design will reflect the influence of Lagonda saloon designs from the 1970s and 1980s - famous for what was called 'straight-edged' styling. Obviously the new 4dr will be made with and from the latest technology and will rely on carbon fibre body panels to save weight.
There are reports that a Lagonda-badged SUV is planned and will be shown after the saloon has been revealed.
The saloon is expected to be delivered to invitees from late next year.
It will be hand-built at the marque's facilities in Gaydon, Warwickshire. The famous brand did not give any indication on price.
