This weekend I had a wardrobe sort-out. I packed away my summer clothes - not that we had much sun - and took out my winter jumpers and coats. I realised when I was going through my clothes that about a third of them don't get worn - not because they don't fit or because I don't like them, but because they are too "good".
My nice trousers, blouses and dresses are saved for special occasions - but, truth is, I don't have many of those. It made me think that maybe it's time to wear the "good" clothes every day. That maybe every day might feel a bit more special if I was wearing something more than jeans and jumpers.
And so I met my sister for a coffee wearing a chiffon blouse, heels and wide-legged trousers. I was the most over-dressed person in the coffee shop but so what? It felt good. I had a spring in my high-heeled step. It occurred to me that we keep waiting for the "Big Moments" in life but maybe we can make every day feel "Big" just by doing something tiny - like putting on your good dress.
