Mindful moment… Be open to the possibility of failure
This weekend I was listening to a podcast with Seth Godin, entrepreneur, author of 18 books and writer of one of the most popular blogs in the world. His areas of special interest are leadership, marketing, the way that ideas spread, and how to affect change.
In the podcast, he talked about a phrase that goes through his head whenever he starts a new project. It's a phrase that terrifies and paralyses most of us - but it's a phrase that Seth Godin finds thrilling. The phrase? "This might not work."
When those words go through his head, Seth Godin says that he knows he is about to try something different, to try something totally out of his comfort zone.
It might bomb - and many of his projects have. But then again, it might work out great. The only way to find out is to try, and whatever happens you'll learn from the experience.
So, inspired by Seth's positive and entrepreneurial viewpoint, I'm making that my mantra for the week: "This might not work but I'm going to do it anyway."
