Niamh Byrne, 11, Ardcath, Co Meath

Hi, my name is Millie. I am a mix between a Terrier and a Jack Russell and have been alive for a whopping 49 years in dog years. I am from a little village called Ardcath in Co Meath and live with my owners Niamh, Jack, Ann and Michael.

When my owners went to get a dog, they didn't know which one to get. When I saw them first, I thought they looked really nice so I decided to put on my cutest ever face. When they saw me, I was praying they would pick me. And guess what? My cute face must have worked - they got ME. I was so, so happy when they picked me.

After a while, I started to feel very lonely, especially in the mornings, because my owners, Niamh and Jack, went to school and Ann and Michael went to work. But sometimes they would let me inside in the evenings where it was so warm. I love just sitting in front of the stove and stay there for as long as I can.

Then after about two years, my whole life changed. I had puppies. I can't remember exactly how many I had because my memory isn't as good as it was, but I think it was five. My owners decided to keep one and sell four.

We kept the one that was giddy and looked really nice. I called her Sally. We became best friends and do everything together. In the mornings we go off hunting, sometimes in the afternoon our owners bring us to our favourite wood. There we sniff everything, even other dogs' poo!!!!

We are travel sick so when we go out, me and Sally always get sick in Michael's car. When he sees it, he gets very grumpy and it is so funny! I also sleep with Sally in a really big kennel that Niamh and Michael made for us, and Niamh wrote on the front "Millie and Sally".

And whenever anyone opens the front or back door to the house, we always run in, hoping they didn't see us, we go straight to the stove or the couch.

At Christmas, Santa always brings us a surprise. Last year, he brought me socks with paws on them and a Christmas hat and got Sally the same. But when our owners put our socks on us, they forgot to take them off and we went off hunting through the fields with them on. When we got home, me and Sally noticed the socks were gone, well, most of them.

My life has changed so much living with this family. Thanks again for picking me, you're the best family a dog could ask for.

Name: Millie

Finest hour: Lying in front of the stove or sitting on the couch

Likes: Woods, walks, playing with my friends
