Jane and Georgina are bubbly after charity bash

In a Guardian article in 2010, Kira Cochrane posed the question: why in the modern age do women want to be Wags? The term, she wrote, "is a sexist slap in the face; an appellation that underlines their status as adjuncts to their husbands: accessories, appendages."

Jane Given was never that kind of woman - or in that kind marriage. Though the marriage to former Ireland goalkeeper Shay is long over, Jane, a school teacher from Glasgow with a huge interest in history, still has the aura of strong independence wherever she appears. And she was exuding that aura in spades last weekend in 37.

The stunning blonde turned up last weekend in the Dawson Street establishment at 7pm on the Friday evening, after the Cari charity lunch in the Shelbourne Hotel with Georgina Ahern and a group of female friends.

They stayed until late, enjoying the odd glass of champagne. Glad to see that Jane hasn't gone away.

I can say the same for the delightful Norah Casey in the aftermath of her recent break-up from her fireman. She was in the Shelbourne the same night with some pals (Claire Ronan and Sallyanne Clarke to name but two) after the Angels Quest lunch in The InterContinental hotel.

Norah, Claire, Sallyanne et al, unsurprisingly, bumped into some of the crew from the Cari lunch (former star of TV3's Dublin Wives Roz Flanagan among them) and soon the girls started a party all of their own at the bar of the Shelbourne.

A bit like Lucinda Creighton's party Renua, but more fun, and more blonde.
