I'm a splash hit with my webbed feet
Hello. I'm Segosha, an 18-month-old Newfoundland.
I'm originally from Co Kilkenny. My Dad is Oscar and my Mam is Amber, while my human Mamma came to Kilkenny one day, and out of my brothers and sisters, she picked me.
Our eyes met across the front garden and it was love at first sight - I knew I had found my forever home in Co Laois.
Mamma's previous dog, Ted, a St Bernard, had recently gone to rainbow heaven. Alas, Mamma's own Mam had also gone to heaven the previous summer.
I knew I had to win her heart and shower her with love.
I had big 'paws' to fill... Mamma's own Mam used to call her 'my auld Segosha' when she was a little girl. It means 'darling'. So that's how I got my name.
One time we were at the zebra crossing and I got stage fright and Mamma had to carry me.
A few cars hooted their horns and drivers waved. I guess I looked cute at six months old in Mamma's arms!
This summer we are going to the seaside and I am super excited as I am an excellent swimmer.
I am a rescue dog with a thick coat and webbed feet - Tramore here I come.
I go walking in Mount St Joseph Abbey in Roscrea a couple of times a week where I meet up with all of my friends - Duke, the Bassett Hound, Moose and Bear, fellow Newfoundlands, Casey, the Bernese, and Bubbles the Springer Spaniel. We have races together to see who can reach the waterfalls first.
I love rolling in the grass, especially when it's wet and mucky.
Last week I got a present because I had been a good girl. I got a Kong toy - it took me ages to work out how to unwrap the treat. I eventually got the treat out yesterday. Yippee. It's great fun.
I get a treat, a big hug and kiss every night when Mamma puts me to bed. Today Mamma and I are going to see Angela for my pampering session. I'm so looking forward to it.
Thanks for reading my story.
