Drogheda Samba Festival is a get-together for Irish samba groups who are joined by others from abroad for a 3-day party of Samba, Latin and African music and dance. There are pub and street gigs, workshops and concerts, with the festival running from June 27 to 29.


The Burren Tolkien Festival is a celebration of the eerie beauty of the Burren area and how it was a considerable influence on JRR Tolkien's epic novel The Lord of the Rings. The untamed, rugged local landscape, including a cave known as Poll na gColm (pronounced Pole na Gollum) are believed to have provided inspiration for Tolkien's creation of Middle Earth. Running from June 26 to 28.


Raising Emotionally Healthy Children explores how parents can help their children reach their potential as emotionally healthy adults, by author Dr Paul Gilligan, clinical psychologist and CEO of St Patrick's Mental Health Services, who draws on over 25 years experience of working with children and teenagers.
