Rockville will feature walled garden for future residents
Rockville Kilternan, Dublin 18 Asking price: From €495,000 Agent: DNG New Homes (01) 491 2600
Rockville, a new development in Kilternan, at the foot of the Dublin Mountains, is set around the eponymous 18th-century Rockville House, which, along with its gate lodge, will be restored and put up for sale.
Maplewood Homes has sought to differentiate the scheme from rival developments by hiring Dermot Foley Landscape Architects to bring back to life Rockville's original walled garden and turn it into a communal space.
Taking inspiration from famed British horticulturist and garden designer Gertrude Jekyll, the firm will design the walled garden in an English country manor style. When the scheme is complete, Rockville will comprise 37 three, four, and five-bed houses, as well as 12 apartments and the refurbished Rockville House and gate lodge. The first 16 houses from the Glenamuck Road development are officially going on the market this weekend.
Prices start at €495,000 for a 1,332-sq ft three-bed, at €565,000 for a three-bed-plus-study with between 1,567 sq ft and 1,662 sq ft of accommodation, and at €570,000 for a four-bed measuring between 1,567 sq ft to 1,814 sq ft
Externally, the houses are finished in brick, UPVC and dash, with woodgrain PVC windows. Inside, there are 9ft-high ceilings to the ground floor, a bespoke kitchen with quartz worktops from Kelly Design, built-in bedroom wardrobes from Cawleys Furniture, and white bathroom suites with sleek matt-black fittings and black shower trays for the walk-in showers. Viewings of the four-bed showhouse from 12pm to 2pm tomorrow and Sunday, while the three-bed houses will be selling off the plans.
