Time to head for the hills in Skerries
Hamilton Hill, Skerries, Co Dublin
Day trips to the seaside and summers spent in mobile homes may be the first images conjured up by the mention of Skerries, but the maritime town has also become a hub for developers catering for families seeking affordable homes within the confines of Co Dublin.
The newest development on the block is Hamilton Hill at Barnageeragh Cove. Being built by Winsac Ltd, the company led by Bernie Carroll and Malachy Clarke - a prolific developer in Skerries - it will have 64 houses when finished; it was launched in February and is now in its third phase.
The 10 new homes will be released tomorrow. All are three-bed semi-detached houses with 1,130 sq ft of accommodation and are selling for €335,000 apiece. The exteriors of the contemporary-style homes are finished in white render, with a grey front door, granite to the windowsills, and Tegral slates to the roofs. To the front of each house is a cobble-lock driveway with space for two cars.
Inside, each house comes with a study space on the first-floor landing and an open-plan kitchen/living area. Hamilton Hill is set on an elevated site and incorporates a blend of hard and soft landscaping, a cycle track and winding pathways. It is a short walk to Skerries train station, where there are 20 rail services a day to Dublin. Junction 4 of the M1 is a 15-minute drive away, giving easy access to Dublin Airport, the M50, the Port Tunnel and the city.
Viewings at the development will take place today and tomorrow, from 12pm to 2pm. Enquiries to: Savills (01) 6181335 or REA Grimes (01) 8490129.
