Three remain in sought-after Greystones development
Marina Village, Greystones, Co Wicklow
The lyrical sounds on the radio of the sea area forecast, with its descriptions of pressure falling slowly and visibility at Tuskar, are an antidote to the age of global uncertainty.
The lighthouse at Tuskar Rock, 11km off the coast of Co Wexford, has, like its counterparts around the island, long been automated. But Marina Village Greystones, where a new harbour and marina were built through a public-private partnership between Wicklow County Council and developers, has borrowed from the legacy of these iconic structures in its house types.
The residential element of the waterside development has secured 82 sales since the vast scheme was launched in August. Of the 29 homes released in a February phase, just three remain. These are, appropriately enough, from the Tuskar range.
These four/five-bed semi-detached homes are priced from €765,000. The hefty price-tag is explained not only by their size - they each have 2,314 sq ft of accommodation across three floors - but by their location at the entrance to Marina Village Greystones, where they have best views of the marina in the entire development. The scheme, which will eventually consist of 358 architect-designed homes, will also feature a boardwalk and a 14-acre coastal park on its north shore.
The Tuskar homes, which are due to be completed from next month, have 9-ft ceilings throughout the ground floor, with a sleek Opti-V flame-effect electric fire in the living room. The kitchen units, with include quartz stone worktops and Siemens appliances, which will come from Nolan Kitchens' Signature range.
On the first floor is the master bedroom with walk-in wardrobes and an ensuite, as well as a family room with a balcony to enjoy the marina views. On the second floor, there is a family bathroom and three more bedrooms. The wardrobes, supplied by Gallagher Kitchens, have shaker-style doors and a washed oak veneer carcass.
