Still 12 three and four-beds left at Swords' Longview scheme
Longview, Millers Glen, Swords, Co Dublin
Back in 2014, footage of house hunters lined up in fold-up chairs on Glen Ellan Road, 2km from the centre of Swords, for days on end to snap up the house of their choice from the Millers Glen development seemed a throwback to the Celtic Tiger mania.
Two and a half years later, with the dearth of affordable homes within the confines of Co Dublin now a staple of the market, queuing for property is no longer such a far-fetched concept.
After the initial launch of Millers Glen, then the first new scheme in north Dublin in seven years, two more phases followed. The most recent was a 41-unit tranche called Longview that released at the end of January. There are currently 12 homes still available from that phase. These are three-bed townhouses with 1,194 sq ft of accommodation and a price tag of €315,000, as well as 1,580 sq ft four-bed detached homes costing from €445,000.
Designed by Conroy Crowe Kelly Architects and developed by Gannon Homes, the Longview homes have an A3 BER, making them efficient and cheap to run. Solar panels provide a continuous supply of low-cost hot water and the central heating is gas-fired. Millers Glen is directly opposite two new schools just off the M1 motorway and close to the M50 and Dublin Airport. Swords Express, which serves Dublin City Centre, earlier this year set up a bus stop for Millers Glen.
The showhouses at Millers Glen are open every Saturday and Sunday, from 2pm-4pm.
